ABOUT THE WORK :
The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year—the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories for Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.
CATS originally opened in the West End in 1981, picking up the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and ran for 21 years. Its Broadway incarnation opened in 1982 and stayed put for 18 years, winning seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The Broadway Revival had its first preview at the Neil Simon Theatre on July 14, 2016, it opened July 31, and played through December 30, 2017.
